Read Any

Tip: Start a Read Any command from the Field Tools main menu in the top-left of the app, unlike all other commands that are listed in the meter or ERT's Task Menu.

The Read Any command lets you get meter reading and tamper information from multiple endpoints within range of your mobile device’s radio. You can receive data from all ERTs and meters in range that meet the market type (gas, water, or all) and wake-up tone you specify. When ERTs and meters operating in network mode respond to the Read Any command, it is only with the Endpoint ID and device type; the Reading field is populated with the word Network, and doesn't include the meter reading.

Field Tools lists all the ERTs and meters that meet the specified criteria and respond to its request for data. For some meters and ERT types, you can view the read response information for individual endpoints by selecting them from the list. If you want to collect a meter reading for one of the ERTs or meters in network mode which responded to Read Any, tap Network in the row for the ERT or meter.

Note: Opting to obtain the meter reading for an ERT or meter in network mode from within the Endpoint Reads list requires you to exit Read Any. Field Tools displays a confirmation window, asking if you want to exit the Read Any operation. If you select Yes, Field Tools closes Read Any and opens the Read command for your device type. As with any ERT or meter in network mode, you must have the required security material to perform the command (see Request commands for more information).

Wakeup Tone

Select the wake-up tone the devices currently use. Most devices are manufactured with a default wake-up tone of 7.

Market Type

Indicates by market type (gas, water, or all) the endpoints from which the mobile device is to receive meter reading and tamper information.

You can filter the list by tapping "" (Filter) in the top-right part of the screen. Field Tools displays a Filters list that includes the ERT or meter types which responded to the Read Any request, as well as mode (Mobile or Network). Select any and all modes and ERT or meter types you want the list to show. Clear selected mode and ERT or meter types to hide them from the list. Field Tools limits and expands the Endpoint Reads list in response to your selections as you make them.

You can sort the endpoint list into ascending or descending numerical order by any of the column headings (Endpoint ID, Reading, or Type) by clicking the column heading. The first time you click the heading, Field Tools sorts the list in ascending numerical order. A small, upward-pointing arrow in the column heading indicates that the column is sorted in ascending order. Clicking it again sorts the list in descending order, as indicated by the downward-pointing triangle. Clicking the column heading a third time removes the sort and the arrow disappears.

At any time—with or without sort or filters applied—you can tap the Endpoint ID search field above the column headings to type all or part of an endpoint ID. Field Tools filters the list to show only the existing endpoint IDs that start with the characters you entered.
